DESCRIPTION: Escapement model - J. Karr, Washington, D.C., rare escapement model of Karr's 1864 patent detent design, unusual dual hairspring arrangement, unjeweled, main brass plate signed "J. Karr, Washington D.C." and measuring approximately 2.5" x 2.25", on wooden base of 5.5" diameter and with glass protective dome. An extremely rare, if not unique, model of Karr's U.S. patent #44317 and a fantastic associated piece to accompany the owner of a Karr chronometer watch such as the following lot in the present auction. CONDITION: Mvt: Ticking when wound but visibly dirty and with error in the flat of its balance motion, overhaul recommended
